
Matt Thompson
M.Ed., LPC-S, EMDR Trained
Matt Thompson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has spent the past decade working primarily with families, adolescents, and adults. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from Hardin-Simmons University and later completed his Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development at Hardin-Simmons University.
Matt is passionate about helping clients work through challenges and grow within the context of their unique experiences and relationships. He provides counseling to adolescents and adults both individually and within the family setting, creating a supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and valued throughout the counseling process.
Matt’s faith as a Christian plays an important role in how he understands people, relationships, and the world around them. He believes healing and growth happen through connection, self-awareness, and practical tools that help clients navigate life’s difficulties with greater confidence and resilience.
His therapeutic approach integrates cognitive and behavioral therapy techniques, along with EMDR-informed care, to help clients identify solutions, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier patterns of thinking and behavior. Matt strives to walk alongside clients with compassion, steadiness, and encouragement as they pursue healing and personal growth.
In addition to maintaining a full-time counseling practice at Beltway Counseling Group, Matt enjoys playing tennis, working out, traveling, and is an active member of Beltway Park.
Matt accepts private pay and all major insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid.
